HONDA RACING’S JASON O’HALLORAN SECURES SUPERSTOCK 1000 VICTORY

It was a successful weekend for Honda Racing at the ninth round of the 2014 British Superbike Championship at Donington Park this weekend, as Jason O’Halloran secured his first National Superstock 1000 victory of the season and Julien Da Costa claimed a respectable sixth-place finish in the second BSB race.

O’Halloran took his Honda Racing CBR1000RR Fireblade SP to the top step of the podium having moved into first place on the opening lap when series leader Danny Buchan crashed out. The wins sees O’Halloran close the gap on Buchan in the championship standings to just 28 points with two races remaining. His team-mate Freddy Foray finished the race in sixth place.

Meanwhile in the British Superbike class, Honda Racing wild card Julien Da Costa contested both races aboard the stunning special-livery ‘Urban Tiger’ CBR1000RR Fireblade. The Frenchman placed 15th in race one before showing vast improvement in race two to secure sixth.

A limited-edition road-going version of the 2014 CBR1000RR Fireblade in the eye-catching ‘Urban Tiger’ design is available to buy now through selected Honda dealers. The model features a special edition Akrapovic exhaust and is priced from £13,299 OTR.

The ‘Urban Tiger’ tribute is the first of three special BSB liveries planned for the 2014 season, with the second due to be unveiled by Da Costa at Silverstone on 3/4/5 October. The penultimate round of the National Superstock 1000 championship – and the on-going battle for the 2014 title – will take place the same weekend.

Jason O’Halloran

It was really nice to take the victory at Donington yesterday in front of such a big crowd and at a circuit I enjoy. It has been such a competitive year and the pace in Superstock has been extremely fast everywhere we’ve been. The team has worked hard all year and we have been so close on so many occasions so to take the win and get back in the championship fight is a nice feeling. Next up is Silverstone. I had pole position there a few weeks ago and broke the lap record in the race so I will be looking for another win to keep the championship alive.
